The Scientific Process. [Nov. 22nd, 2004|09:34 pm]
[mood | pissed off]

Well, I may or may not have mentioned this, but a month or so ago, I submitted a paper to a reasonably reputable journal.

Today, I received the referees' comments on my paper, which I have to accommodate, before resubmission, and hopefully publication.

Well, there are two referees. Let's call them Alice and Bob. I don't know their real names, either.

Alice, has two (2) things to say about the paper, both of which are extremely minor, e.g. tweak this diagram, blah.

Bob, has given me three pages of detailed criticism, varying from the insanely pedantic detail, which, if I included would inflate the paper's size unacceptably, to calling large parts of the paper into question, and apparently demonstrating complete ignorance about crucial matters which were definitively proven back in 19-fucking-91.

This, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is scientific consensus.
